I'm sorry it's been longer than I intended since my last post, but things have been kind of crazy around here because we are moving into our first home on Sunday!! We officially own a piece of land, as Mike loves to say. I think he's got this thing for the pioneering days where men set out for the West with their families, claimed a good piece of earth as their very own and started building up their dreams.
Luckily, our piece of land already comes with a house, so the building up of our dreams will only be figurative. But still, owning your own home does carry with it some romantic notions. I feel like we finally have the freedom to create a place that represents us...you know, without feeling like we have to put everything back the way it was in a few years. We can settle in and stay a while. It will be the first home Evie will remember, too.
Some hopes we have for our new home are for it not only to be a place of shelter and comfort for us, but also for others. We'd like to take advantage of the increase in space to be more hospitable and bless others more. Make friends with our neighbors. Grow a nice garden. Turn the garage into a gym (that one is all Mike...). I'm sure the list will grow, but this is a start.
The next few days will probably remain in a state of crazy, but I'm excited to post more when we are settled!
