We are in the home stretch. One more month and you have lived upon this earth for one year. No more dealing in mere pocket change, baby. Soon, you'll have a whole dollar.
As I've been writing these monthly updates for you, I've noticed that I don't have as dramatic of updates to share. In the beginning it was a big deal when you smiled or looked at me or grabbed something. Now you do all those things without a second thought. I know you're still learning and growing so much, but your progress have been subtler these past few months.
You're getting really good at standing and pulling yourself up on things. You haven't been able to stand by yourself quite yet, but I know it's coming soon. Same with walking. I see you extending your legs a little when your standing, like a ballerina doing her toe pointing exercises, testing the waters. You can also walk along the edge of the couch while you hold on to it.
Eating is going pretty well, I think. I'm feeling like I should be feeding you more real food because you are still consuming mostly formula. I should probably do more research (and consult my Super Baby Food book). I'm just not 100 percent sure how or when to be phasing out the formula, and honestly, I'm kind of overwhelmed by the thought. Also, I have failed miserably at this whole making homemade baby food thing. In my defense, you haven't liked any of the baby food I've made for you up to this point, so I have to say, my motivation levels are pretty low.
So much for being super mom.
You do eat blackberries and blueberries like you are a paid berry eater. I mean, you double fist those berries. And I'm so proud of you for that.
You keep getting cuter, and I don't know how that is possible, but it's true. You're hair is long enough for pig tails now, which is definitely a contributing factor. Also, you still only have those two bottom teeth poking out. I'm hoping the rest come soon.
And your baby language has advanced significantly. You string sounds and syllables together into in depth monologues. I love it because you say things with such emphasis, such meaning. I just have no idea what that meaning is. I think you get more talkative when we start talking...like you're trying to be part of the conversation.
However, you've started doing one thing that is not so cute (can you believe it??). When you don't get your way or you're just plain cranky, you've started emitting this terrible hybrid of a cry and a scream. It is high-pitched and loud and very angry sounding. And you're face usually gets red when you do it.
We are not fans of this new use for your vocal cords.
Anyway, you love waves at the beach, music, Mum-Mums, pulling hair, flipping book pages, reading Peek-a-Who, watching Baby Einstein (Baby Galileo edition) and pulling utensils out of the dish washer. And sometimes climbing onto the open door of the dishwasher.
I'm not sure how much you weigh, exactly, but you still fit into nine-month clothes and only just begun fitting into 12-month.
We're so excited for your birthday! I'm in the process of gathering supplies to make your present, which hopefully I will make correctly (got the idea off Pinterest, so...we shall see) and be able to share about it on your one year post.
Yay for celebrating birthdays! One more month, baby girl!
